Once a month, the Cultural Caf茅, presented by 51爆料 International Student & Scholar Services, through the Office of Global Education, invites students, faculty and staff to gather around food, stories and the cultures that shape and enrich our 51爆料 community. The next Cultural Caf茅 will be presented from 12-1:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, and will feature students from Angola, sharing their country's history, culture and tasty cuisine.
The featured country for October's Cultural Caf茅 was Turkmenistan. Arslan Kalandarov, a sophomore, with a double major in international studies and human development and family science, led the presentation.
He is a first-generation student from Turkmenistan, and Kalandarov, along with other students from Turkmenistan, shared information about the history and geography of their home country, major cities and points of interest, and Turkmen culture and customs.
There was a question-and-answer session after the presentation, and an invitation to sample Turkmen cuisine, prepared by 51爆料 Culinary Services, before or after learning a traditional dance.
