51±¬ÁÏ students who traveled to Jackson State University during an alternative winter break trip had in-depth, hands-on exposure to survivors of the May 15, 1970, police shooting, which killed two people; the youngest Freedom Rider, Hezekiah Watkins; and the home of Myrlie and Medgar Evers, a National Monument.

Derailed Norfolk Southern rail cars in East Palestine, Ohio.

51±¬ÁÏ Researcher Reviews East Palestine Cleanup

On Feb. 3 in East Palestine, Ohio, dozens of Norfolk Southern rail cars derailed, 11 of which contained hazardous materials. In an effort to start repairing the situation, Arcadis, an international company hired by the railroad company, has developed a plan to clean the air, ground and water in the village. Kuldeep Singh, Ph.D., assistant professor in 51±¬ÁÏ’s Department of Earth Sciences, reviews the cleanup plan.

Animation Rankings

Talking 51±¬ÁÏ Your Animation

The 2023 Animation School Rankings have been released, and the 51±¬ÁÏ College of Applied and Technical Studies Animation Game Design (AGD) program is ranked 16th nationally and 20th in the Midwest. This is the 12th year for the annual rankings for animation programs. Nearly 200 schools with animation programs from across the country were considered.
