During the first full week of the spring semester, 51����’s College of Aeronautics and Engineering provided two events for students, staff and faculty in the building to mingle and get to know each other, as a fun way to kick off the academic term.  

Mock Trial Teams Host 10-Team Intercollegiate Regional Tournament

On January 20, 51���� welcomed over 120 college students from across the region to its “Golden Flash Legal Clash,” a two-day collegiate mock trial invitational held in the Kent Student Center. Proceeds from the event helped to raise funds for future events that 51����’s Mock Trial teams plan to attend. The 10 student teams, including some from out-of-state, competed in four rounds. Teams from Case Western Reserve University finished first and second with third place going to a team from William & Mary. The opening and closing ceremonies were held in the 51���� Governance Chambers. 

From a Ph.D. to International Pageant Winner

When you hear the word pageant, it likely conjures up images of tiaras, swimsuit competitions and ladies crying as they clutch an armful of roses on a brightly lit stage. But Lorain, Ohio, native and 51���� alumna Monica Burgett, Ph.D., has triumphed on a pageant circuit that doesn’t include sparkling tiaras or bathing suit competitions. Student Video Exhibit Features Chimney Swifts of Kent
