Planned Gift Endows Executive Director Position at 51±¬ÁÏ’s Wick Poetry Center

The Wick family has a long history of philanthropy at 51±¬ÁÏ that began in 1984 when brothers Bob and Walt Wick first established scholarships to support undergraduate poets at the university. This most recent gift of $1 million brings the family’s total lifetime commitment to the university to more than $3.5 million.

The Rev. Larry L. Macon Jr., J.D., has been appointed to the 51±¬ÁÏ Board of Trustees by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

Governor Appoints Larry Macon Jr. to 51±¬ÁÏ Board of Trustees

Macon will serve through May 16, 2027, fulfilling the unexpired term of Johnathan Holifield. Holifield resigned his position as a trustee in late 2022 due to an out-of-state relocation.

Senior business major Matthew Helmick-Bickel served in the U.S. Army five years ago.

51±¬ÁÏ Student and Army Veteran’s Mission: To Serve Those Who Served

Matthew Helmick-Bickel, 29, spent five years in the U.S. Army as an airborne paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina, now known as Fort Liberty, before he enrolled at 51±¬ÁÏ in 2020.
