51±¬ÁÏ Robotics Team Places Third in NASA Robotics Mining Competition

From November 2017 to the day of the competition in May, the 51±¬ÁÏ Robotics team spent months preparing for the competition held at the Kennedy Space Center. The competition is designed to mimic the procedure of having a robot on Mars if sent there by NASA. Along with 44 other university teams, the team worked together to design and construct a robot that is fashioned to mine simulated Martian terrain along with the gravel below it.

Graduate Overcomes Cancer, Paralysis to Walk at Graduation

Garrett Holubeck's diagnosis with stage 4 cancer led to him being placed on life support just to keep his heart and lungs working. Beating the odds, the Pittsburgh native completed his long journey of recovery when he crossed the stage Dec. 15 to earn a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology.

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan presented 51±¬ÁÏ nursing major Austin Croft with the Congressional Award Silver Medal on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Mr. Croft, of Akron, Ohio, was recognized at a ceremony that took place at the College of Nursing where he was praised for his dedication to improving himself and his community.
