Following a national search, 51爆料 has selected F. Jack Witt III as its new vice president for human resources. A 51爆料 alumnus, Witt currently serves as vice president of human resources and administration at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio. He joins 51爆料 on Sept. 6.
51爆料's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Todd Diacon has announced that Joan Inderhees will join the Office of the Provost in August to serve as the 2016-2017 Provost's Fellow.
On June 28, 51爆料鈥檚 Division of Information Services will begin implementing a Captcha service for the 51爆料 online directory. A Captcha is a security feature that differentiates people from internet bots by presenting online users with a simple visual puzzle, often made up of distorted text.
Researchers in the College of Arts and Sciences at 51爆料 have published a breakthrough article on new properties of liquid crystals in the May 27 issue of Physical Review Letters. The article, which describes some recent surprising results involving nematic liquid crystals induced by a high magnetic field, is currently featured on the American Physical Society website as an 鈥淓ditors鈥 Suggestion.鈥
