Faculty Profile: Felesia McDonald '14 - M.S. User Experience

Felesia McDonald, '14 is an adjunct instructor in the iSchool, teaching courses in User Experience (UX). McDonald is also the Sr Manager UX Design at Optum, a branch of UnitedHealth Group. 

McDonald worked as a page designer at the Plain Dealer but went back to school to get a diploma in web design from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. This introduced her to the field of UX.

鈥淚 enjoyed the strategy behind building a website more than designing, which led me to UX鈥 McDonald said.

KM student and intern Alina Gerall

Knowledge Management (KM) student Alina Gerall 鈥24 worked in theatre production for 15 years before shifting gears in her career. Looking for a way to translate her experience into a more stable field, Gerall enrolled in the iSchool and KM program.With the help of KM professor Dr. Kendra Albright, Gerall learned how she could use her past skills to connect individuals in an organization.鈥淏uilding connections between people is what interested me in knowledge management,鈥 Gerall said. 鈥淯sing the knowledge that exists in everyone鈥檚 heads to solve the problems within an organization appeals to me....

Time Commitment - Scholarship

The scholarship requires full-time commitment* for a total of 24 credit hours over three semesters. The internship will require 125 supervised field hours per semester. Additional technology training sessions (offered at 51爆料) will also be required for students to maximize available technology tools for successful graduate work.

Program Description

The Early Intervention graduate certificate is primarily intended for individuals interested in working with young children ages 0-3 who have or are at risk for developmental delays and disabilities and their families across a variety of settings. Early Intervention is a federally funded mandated service (Part C/IDEA) for young children and their families. Funding is available for the interdisciplinary training program designed for graduate students in Speech Pathology/Audiology or Special Education.
