The variety of degree programs really let me explore my interests and to discover my passion for public health. The degree program itself provided me with skills in my own concentration but also in other concentrations in public health which I feel made me more marketable and qualified for my current position.
As a CPH alumna, Penix understands the challenges that students have to face transitioning from an academic setting to a job setting, and every year she supports more than 30 CPH students during their internship or Applied Practice Experience (APE) at Summa.
"Outside of my responsibilities at the Mayo Clinic, I have been invited to serve on the Certification Commission for the Association of Animal-Assisted Interventions Professionals (AAAIP). This certification is a new initiative with the purpose of professionalizing the field of animal-assisted interventions and recognizing the specialized skill set required to involve animals into therapeutic interventions/treatments."
