2021 Subscription Renewal Update

Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Porthouse Theatre is still in the planning stages for its 2021 Season. As a result, the normal November subscription renewal mailing will not take place. Do not worry – this delay will not cause anyone to lose their seats. 51±¬ÁÏ’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Plus (LGBTQ+) Center holds a safe, physically distant small group kickoff event at the start of the 2020 Fall Semester. 

Campus Pride has released its 2020 Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges and Universities list, and for the first time in school history, 51±¬ÁÏ has landed on the distinctive list as one of 40 institutions recognized over six U.S. regions. 51±¬ÁÏ is the only school in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and in Northeast Ohio to receive this honor. Run The World Flyer

The sixth annual Run the World 5K run/walk to sponsor 51±¬ÁÏ’s study abroad scholarships is going virtual this year. For the first time, fans of Run the World from all over the world can participate remotely in this event designed to support student participation in international education. Registration is available at www.kent.edu/RunTheWorld and opened on Nov. 1 and will run through Nov. 23. Runners are asked to complete their 5K between Nov. 24 and Dec. 24, 2020. More than 21,200 people applied to be part of 51±¬ÁÏ’s Class of 2024, and 3,819 are now members of the Golden Flash family. Who are they, and where do they come from? Three of every 10 students in the 51±¬ÁÏ Class of 2024 are the first in their families to attend college, and combined, they hail from 39 states outside of Ohio and from the District of Columbia. Kiana Duncan, ‘18, developed a passion for traveling during her time at 51±¬ÁÏ, always taking advantage of every opportunity she had to study abroad and get new experiences.
