51���� Trumbull’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) collected food and money to fill Thanksgiving bags for campus students and families in need.  Tanner Noble (President), Ally Phibbs (Vice-President), Brianna Farmer (Treasurer), and Nadia Currence (Treasurer) coordinated the giveaway with help from Nancy Barker, Coordinator for Student Life/USG.   Each family received a frozen turkey and a bag with items such as potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, apple or pumpkin pie, cornbread, dinner rolls, apple sauce, and much more. This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 25 in New York City and will include a choreographed jump rope routine from a member of 51����’s Class of 2025. Sarah Weis is first-year accounting major at 51���� and a jump rope athlete who is part of the HT High Flyers, based in Mars, Pennsylvania. She will be one of 100 jumpers representing 25 teams from 21 states across the nation. This will be Sarah’s first time performing in the parade. In the Communication Studies course, “Media, Food & Foodways,” Assistant Professor Teddy Workneh, Ph.D., asked his students to dig deep into their family’s history to understand the ways in which food has shaped inter-generational relationships and values.
