Ceramics on Display

Current and former faculty and alumni have featured art pieces in the new exhibit Now and Then: Seven Decades of 51爆料 Ceramics. The exhibit focuses on former faculty, notable alumni and a juried selection of alumni from the 70-year history of the 51爆料 Ceramics Program. You can visit the event at 51爆料鈥檚 Downtown Gallery, 141 E. Main St., Kent, Ohio. The exhibit will be on display until Jan. 14 and then will move to Carl Solway Gallery in Cincinnati to be presented at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference. Bobby Makar, a name remembered fondly by students and faculty in the School of Media and Journalism (MDJ), was a storyteller, a compassionate friend and inspiring teacher. He died unexpectedly in November 2020, and since then, more than 100 donations have been made to establish memorial scholarship in his name. Makar earned his bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees from MDJ. He went on to become a cherished adjunct faculty member in the digital media production major and made significant contributions to the curriculum.
