EHHS grad Elena Marquetti-Ali, BS ’03, MPA ’05, Ashtabula, Ohio, was crowned Ms. Ohio Woman AmeriFest. She was also named the 2023 A.L.I.C.E. Community Service Award recipient for the state. Marquetti-Ali is a resident of Saybrook and serves as Board President for the United Way of Ashtabula County. On Wednesday, April 19th, the 51���� Precision Flight Team and the College of Aeronautics and Engineering hosted the 2023 Safety Conference. Lillian Kuri has been unanimously elected as the Cleveland Foundation’s 10th president and CEO. The 51���� alumna, who grew up in Freedom Township in Portage County, will lead the 109-year-old foundation starting Aug. 1, 2023, succeeding retiring Ronn Richard. Currently serving as the Cleveland Foundation’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Kuri will be the first woman to hold the president and CEO position on a full-time basis. On Tuesday morning, a fire was reported at the University Inn, 540 S. Water St. in Kent. University officials sent out a text message warning residents to stay away from the area. The fire is believed to have broken out on the seventh floor, with two people transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
