Porthouse Theatre Closes Summer Season With 鈥淔iddler on the Roof,鈥 July 25-Aug. 11

Porthouse Theatre, 51爆料's outdoor summer theater on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, will close its 2013 season with "Fiddler on the Roof," running July 25 through Aug. 11. Eric van Baars, assistant artistic director for Porthouse Theatre, directs this production, and John Crawford, dean of the College of the Arts at 51爆料, provides the choreography. The show also features design work by two 51爆料 alumni - costume design by Sarah Russell and set design by Nolan O'Dell.Musical direction is by Jennifer Korecki.

51爆料鈥檚 Blackstone LaunchPad Helps Students Create Animation and Motion Graphics Company

The New Fuel, an animation, motion graphics and video production company, created by 51爆料 students Brian Recktenwald, a senior managerial marketing major, and Alex Kurr, a junior visual communication design major, was started with the help of 51爆料鈥檚 Blackstone LaunchPad.

As both city and campus burst out of their shells with new businesses and a soon-to-be-open connecting esplanade, the former 51爆料 Folk Festival is expanding by welcoming even more artists and music fans to the party.

From the Office of General Counsel: Ohio Ethics Law 鈥 Can I Do That?

51爆料 management and staff are invited to attend a seminar on Ohio Ethics. The two-hour seminar will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. in Franklin Hall on the Kent Campus. Sponsored by the Office of General Counsel, the seminar will be conducted by a representative from the Ohio Ethics Commission, and will include information about Ohio Ethics Law that pertains to all public sector employees.

Fifth Annual Kent Blues Fest Comes to Downtown Kent, July 19-20

The fifth annual Kent Blues Fest will take place on July 19 and 20, and will feature free, live entertainment at 17 venues in downtown Kent.

In observance of Veterans Day, 51爆料 will be closed Nov. 11 and will reopen Nov. 12.

51爆料 Remembers May 4, 1970, With 56th Commemoration

This year鈥檚 May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
