Through generous funding provided by the Freeman Foundation, approximately 12 KSU undergraduate students receive funding up to $6,500 to help offset the cost of interning in East or Southeast Asia during the summer. The purpose of the KSU Freeman Fellows Internship in Asia program is to encourage undergraduate students of all academic backgrounds to expand their worldviews, strengthen cross-cultural communication skills, and become more engaged global citizens while gaining practical career experience.

There are several brief questionnaires to complete within the application, a program overview to acknowledge, and three documents to upload. Students are required to submit the following items in their online application:
- Resume
- Personal statement
- Introduce yourself and describe why you are applying for this program and how it aligns with your academic, personal, and future career goals.
- Service project proposal
- KSU Freeman Fellows are expected to design a service project that will be implemented within one semester following their return to campus from the internship abroad. The service project should help to increase awareness of the KSU Freeman Fellows Internship in Asia program and to educate other KSU students on Asian cultures, customs, history, languages, etc.
- Students should consider their hobbies, interest areas, skill sets, and network (i.e., how you are involved on campus) when designing their service project.

Who is eligible to apply to the KSU Freeman Fellows Internship in Asia program?
There are the following eligibility requirements for the program:
- Current degree-seeking undergraduate student at 51爆料
- Any major
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5 or higher and in good academic standing
- Must have at least one year of academic courses remaining at KSU at the conclusion of the internship abroad.
- Students must be willing to procure a passport to travel internationally; a visa may be needed depending upon the host country's regulations.
- Students selected for the KSU Freeman Fellows Internship in Asia program cannot use the funding for an internship in the country in which their passport was issued.
- International students require secondary approval from the Freeman Foundation.

Students may propose a wide variety of service projects. Some examples include:
- A presentation for a student group or class.
- Writing weekly articles or blogs about the experience to be shared on a listserv or the university website.
- Planning and leading a fun event such as a trivia night, crafting event, chalk art, photo exhibit, cultural event, or language 101 session.

The KSU Freeman Fellows Internship in Asia funding can only be applied to the internship program fee. Depending on the program fee of the internship program you choose, you may receive slightly less that $6,500 (e.g., if the program fee is $5,000, you would only receive $5,000.).

How long are the internships?
The internships are 6-8 weeks depending on the program you choose.

Are the internships paid?
The internships are not paid, but the KSU Freeman Fellows funding provides up to $6,500 to assist with the program fee.

Each internship provider will place you in apartment or share-house style living in the city of your internship. You may need to utilize public transportation to commute to your internship location.

Can I receive course credit for these internships?
Maybe! We encourage you to talk with your Academic Advisor to get a better understanding of how to do this internship opportunity for 51爆料 credit.
