SPECIAL EVENTS INTERN at THE MERCY HEALTH FOUNDATION

The Mercy Health Foundation coordinates and administers charitable gifts, trusts and bequests used to underwrite a variety of projects, programs and services that enhance health care in the Mahoning Valley.

Job Description:
The intern will be responsible for supporting the mission of the Mercy Health Foundation by assisting with our largest fundraising event, Panerathon through the summer.
- Directly reports to Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley Special Events Coordinator
- Attends all Panerathon related meetings, events, walk-throughs, and day-of event
- Manage participant packet donations by reaching out to sponsors and other local businesses for items to be donated to participant bags Track and manage inventory of items via Excel Document
- Coordinate pick-up and/or mailing of items
- Coordinate delivery of items to Lark Enterprises prior to event
- Create Master list of all donated items
- Manage the coordination of Mercy Health community organizations for the day-of Panerathon Communicate with department lead on their needs for day-of
- Act as on-site coordinator to ensure their needs/requests are met (tent/table set-up is complete, deliver meal coupons, and assist with any day of needs)
- Works closely with Special Events Coordinator to develop event marketing strategies geared toward Mercy Health employees, including but not limited to: Create and execute unique in-hospital promotions at all three locations throughout the summer to encourage hospital employees to participate in Panerathon, either volunteers or participating
- Developing 4 – 5 email marketing campaigns to send to Youngstown Mercy Health employees
- Work on-site the week of the event as a volunteer helping with packet pick-up, bag stuffing, and volunteering coordination (40+ week)
- Attend weekly check-ins with Special Events Coordinator on tasks provided
- Administrative and other duties as assigned by the Special Events Coordinator, including any specific areas of interest
Qualifications:
- Hold or in the process of obtaining a degree in Hospitality, Event Management, Marketing/Communications, or Non-profit Fundraising, or like field.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (word, excel, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and transportation
- Some weekends and evenings required

- Must be honest and reliable worker
- Ability to manage their time, as the role does allow individual to work from home
- Must take initiative and be creative in their role
- Outgoing and willing to bring new ideas to the table

REQUIREMENTS
Must be dependable and punctual with great attendance

JOB DUTIES
Cleans medical offices or hospital areas in a manner that provides a sanitized and disinfected healing environment
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness in high traffic areas that may including but not limited to: hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and other workspaces
Floor care, dusting, sanitizing, trash removal, and other tasks as assigned
Contribute to a safe work environment for Medical staff, and fellow EVS team members
