Mathematics Education Professor Karl Kosko, Ph.D., recently received the 2025 Kenneth Cummins Award from the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Kosko was recognized at the OCTM annual conference that celebrates outstanding teachers, curriculum leaders/coaches, professors, emerging leaders, contributors to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and friends of mathematics.
OCTM lauded Kosko as "a nationally recognized leader in research, teaching and service. With a deep commitment to preservice teacher development, Kosko transforms how future educators view and teach mathematics. He integrates groundbreaking tools - such as 3D-printed manipulatives and 360 degree classroom video simulations - to highlight student reasoning and promote equitable, conceptual understanding. His scholarship has garnered multile NSF grants and publication in top-tier journals. Beyond the classroo, Kosko has served on state-level committees, advanced math education policy, and mentored countless doctoral students. A respected voice across Ohio and the nation, his career models the excellence, innovation and service embodied by the Ken Cummins Award."
OCTM annually honors outstanding mathematics educators and advocates who demonstrate excellence in teaching, leadership, and service to the profession. A former 51爆料 faculty member, Cummins was well known in the mathematics community for his outstanding teaching.
