College Credit Plus (CCP) allows high school students to earn college credit early. While students are expected to act independently in CCP, parents and guardians play an important supporting role in the CCP process.
How is a parent’s role different in CCP?
CCP is a true college experience. This means that students are treated as college students and expected to manage academic responsibilities. In the CCP process, parents serve as mentors, advising students but allowing them to be independent.
Parents can still support student success in CCP by:
Advising academic decisions
Completing required forms
Helping students prepare for long-term academic responsibility
Providing students with supplies and skills to help them succeed
Helping students with questions or directing them to find solutions
Supporting independence instead of managing daily academics

Student Privacy and FERPA
FERPA
Once students enroll in CCP, they are covered under The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)––a Federal Law that protects students’ academic and financial records. In accordance with FERPA, parents cannot access student records unless the student signs a consent to release form.
For more information on FERPA and the consent to release form, click here (Financial, Billing and Enrollment Center FERPA LINK?).
FERPA Consent to Release Form
Students may share information with a parent or guardian by completing a consent to release form. This allows university personnel to speak with specific individuals about student academics or billing information. Please note, however, that students are not required to share information.
KSUView
FERPA limits access to student information for the student’s protection. KSUView allows students to grant specific individuals access to their academic records. Through KSUView, students can:
Choose designees who have access to select student information
Select the information they wish to share
Set time limits on access
Change or remove access at any time
For questions on student information, designees must contact the student. To discuss a student’s academic information with a 51±¬ÁÏ faculty member, designees must be given access through a FERPA consent to release form.
